Rock Xtreme X770 Review - Register Hardware

Rock-Xtreme-X770-T7800-8800.jpg

A review of the Rock Xtreme X770 laptop with Nvidia GeForce 8800M graphics has been posted over at the Register Hardware. 'Considering the epic price of even a basic X770 you don’t get a great many features for your money. The chassis feels good and solid but the keyboard, touchpad and mouse buttons are decidedly average. Going around the ports and connectors there’s a DVI - there's a VGA adaptor bundled in the box - s-video output, four USB ports, a mini Firewire connector, a serial port (!), an ExpressCard slot, modem and Ethernet. Although the chassis carries a TV aerial connector, the TV tuner is an extra that costs a further £76. There’s no flick switch to control wireless LAN or Bluetooth and there’s nothing about the Rock that suggests you’re using more than two grand’s worth of the finest gaming laptop that money can buy.'

Rock Xtreme 770 T7800-8800 Review - Trusted Reviews

Rock-Xtreme-770-T7800-8800.jpg

Trusted Reviews have published a review of the Rock Xtreme 770 T7800-8800 gaming Notebook. 'This model also comes with a 200GB SATA hard disk, which may sound a bit stingy until you realise that it's a faster 7,200rpm variety rather than the 5,400rpm disks found in most standard desktop notebooks. You can also select a 250GB drive but this is a 5,400rpm drive and with focus squarely on gaming performance, the faster drive is the way to go. As standard there's also plenty else of note, with Intel 802.11 a/b/n WiFi and Gigabit Ethernet, a 7-in-1 memory card reader, 1.3 Megapixel camera, Bluetooth, four USB ports, FireWire and even a Fingerprint reader wedged between the two touch pad buttons. All in all, it's a very well appointed machine that packs in all the features one would expect of high performance notebook.'

Rock Xtreme X770-T7800 Notebook Review - Register Hardware

Rock-Xtreme-X770-T7800.jpg

The Register Hardware have published a review of the Rock Xtreme X770-T7800 Notebook. 'The X770 is a stylish, well-built notebook. The black chassis - made by Clevo, a M57RU model - is highlighted by a narrow orange trim strip, although silver is available for those not so daring. The keyboard and trackpad/mouse buttons are surrounded by a panel finished off to look like carbon fibre. Dominating the lid is a large brushed-aluminum panel bearing a large X, neatly bordered above and below by gloss piano black strips. The keyboard is full size with a separate numeric pad and a full size Enter key, which in itself makes a nice change from the cut-down norm. The keypad is well built and placed far enough along the chassis to make for comfortable typing, aided by the keys themselves, which have just the right amount of flex to them.'

Rock Xtreme 770 Notebook Review - Personal Computer World

Rock-Xtreme-770.jpg

A review of the feature-rich Rock Xtreme 770 Notebook has been posted over at Personal Computer World. 'With an orange rim, the black chassis leans forward and sends out a clear message to onlookers that it hides some top-notch components. Its prize possession is Intel’s new T7800 processor, which succeeds the short-lived X7800, a strictly mobile gaming chip with a guzzling 44W thermal design point (TDP). The T7800 has the same 35W TDP as regular Core 2 Duo chips. Despite the lower power consumption, the notebook’s fan produced a considerable amount of noise, even when idle and running off battery power. The T7800 runs at 2.6GHz with Santa Rosa’s 800MHz front-side bus and has 4MB L2 cache.'

Rock Pegasus T12 T7400 - Personal Computer World

Rock-Pegasus-T12-T7400.jpg

Personal Computer World have published their review of the Rock Pegasus T12 T7400 Vista notebook PC. 'Rock has sensibly opted for Vista Home Premium over the slightly cheaper, but far inferior Home Basic edition. It has also done a good job of supplying Vista with decent hardware to run off. Sitting at the heart of the system is a fast Core 2 Duo T7400 running at 2.16GHz - this is second only to Intel's T7600 model. Combined with the 1GB of Ram required by Vista Home Premium, it powered the notebook to a score of 229 in Sysmark 2004 SE. To keep costs down, Rock supplies it with Intel 945GM integrated graphics instead of a dedicated graphics card, so don't expect to use this notebook as a portable gaming machine. It's poor 3D performance is highlighted further by it returning a score of just 581 in 3Dmark05.'

Rock Pegasus 665 Core 2 Duo Notebook Reviewed

RockPegasus665.jpg

The Rock Pegasus 665 Core 2 Duo notebook PC has been reviewed over at Notebook Review. 'The Rock Pegasus 665-T72 is one of a new line of configurable notebooks from English notebook computer company, Rock (www.rockdirect.co.uk). The notebooks are a revised version of the Pegasus 660, with the new Intel Core 2 Duo processors in place of the previous generation Core Duo. All models feature a variant of the new, highly anticipated, dual core offering. The notebook falls in between the “thin and light” and “desktop replacement” categories as shown by the size and weight below. However, when taking its high-end specification into account, the size and bulk of the machine are very reasonable. It is also quite slim compared to many similar notebooks.'

Rock Pegasus T12 Preview At Trusted Reviews

Rock%20Pegasus%20T12.jpg

Trusted Reviews plays by the rules and finally discloses the specs on the new Rock Pegasus T12 Core 2 Duo Laptop. 'That the T12 is one of the first laptops to be released with Intel’s sparkling Core 2 Duo processor is cause enough for celebration but there is much more than that. Since, despite all this power, the T12 boasts a whopping battery life of seven hours 13 minutes (quoted from rock’s MobileMark 2002 productivity workload test result) due to a huge 10,000mAh extended battery. This figure is all the more remarkable too because there is a 15.4in WXGA widescreen display strapped to it.'

It also features a silent mode, so, at the touch of a button, the notebook’s processor cores can be slowed to 1GHz for super quiet fanless running. Trusted Reviews: Rock Pegasus 330 Notebook Review

Rock Pegasus 330 Notebook.jpg

Andrew 'Spode' Miller reviewed the Rock Pegasus 330 Notebook and opined favorably on the overall performance of the laptop. 'The Pegasus 330 is a small notebook, weighing in at only 2.1kg making it perfect for anyone on the go. It opens up nicely even on a fairly cramped aeroplane, with room to spare. It has a small 13.3in widescreen display running at 1,280 x 768 using the integrated Intel 945GM graphics, so you won’t be playing any games. But this resolution is fine for word processing, email and other general use.Inside there is an Intel Core Duo T2400, which operates at 1.83GHz. At the moment, this particularly processor offers the best value for money - so a good choice on Rock’s part. There is also 1GB of DDR2 memory, made up of two 512MB Corsair 4-4-4-12 modules. Being configured like this means performance should be a little better as it is running in dual-channel, but this makes upgrading difficult. If you want 2GB, you should specify this in the configurator and pay a little extra at the beginning. '

Rock Ready Xtreme SL Notebook

Rock Ready Xtreme SL.jpg

If you are a "hardcore gamer" you would be well aware of the need for the maximum of resources since gaming applications are very demanding of the computing device on which they are installed. Rock has its eyes firmly fixed on the gaming segment as it has configured a notebook chock full of goodies to ensure the smooth operation of most games on the market. 'Ideal for hardcore gamers, Rock is again first with new laptop technology. This time it’s dual-GPU gaming, thanks to the inclusion of two graphics cards. The Xtreme SL features nVidia’s SLI technology built-in, combining the power of two high performance graphics cards to deliver performance previously only seen on desktop platforms.
