Panasonic Toughbook R7 Review - Digital Trends

Panasonic-Toughbook-R7.jpg

A review of the Panasonic Toughbook R7 notebook PC has been posted over at Digital Trends. ‘The R7 is a sub-notebook, and as such it’s designed solely to offer amazing battery life while still being useable for day-to-day tasks, unlike a handheld PC or similar. It comes in 11 different colors and numerous configurations are available. It might seem like an oxymoron, but just because a notebook is small doesn’t mean it can’t handle the rigors of daily life. Though Panasonic doesn’t make any guarantees regarding the R7’s ability to withstand specific punishment, it does claim that an R7 in its test lab was able to withstand 110lbs. and an 11.8” drop. The hard drive is also shock-mounted to help prevent a head crash in case the notebook is dropped.’

Panasonic Toughbook W5 Review - XYZ Computing

Panasonic-Toughbook-W5.jpg

A review of the Panasonic Toughbook W5 notebook PC has been posted over at XYZ Computing. 'Despite the small size the W5 has a full assortment of connections. There are two USB 2.0 ports, ethernet, headphone/mic jacks, PC card, VGA out, a port replicator, and an SD card reader. A RJ-11 modem jack was even thrown in just in case anyone uses those any more. The power and wireless switches are actually accessible while the system is shut because they are placed on the front instead of above the keyboard. The power switch actually slides forward to turn the system on and is illuminated with a green LED that shines when the system is in use and pulses when it is hibernating. One thing that is missing from the W5 is a finger print reader, something that seems like an obvious choice for business users.'

Panasonic Toughbook CF-Y5 – Personal Computer World

Panasonic-Toughbook-CF-Y5.jpg

Personal Computer World have posted their review of the Panasonic Toughbook CF-Y5 notebook PC. ‘The Toughbook CF-Y5 is Panasonic's latest foray into the corporate rugged-laptop market where businesses might not mind paying a little bit more for something that will last. One of the first things we noticed was its weight. Including the power supply the notebook weighs just 1.95kg, which is superb for a 14.1in LCD based laptop with an inbuilt DVD writer. Special tricks include being able to withstand a 100kg mass placed on top of the laptop.’

Panasonic ToughBook CF-19 -Trusted Reviews

Panasonic-ToughBook-CF-19.jpg

Trusted Reviews have reviewed the "rugged" ToughBook CF-19 notebook PC from Panasonic. 'The unusual thing about the CF-19 and the CF-18 before it, is that despite being as tough as an armadillo, it's also pretty small and light. Weighing in at 2.25kg and measuring 271 x 216 x 49mm (WxDxH), the CF-19's proportions don't indicate that it could withstand serious abuse, but believe me, it can. The video embedded on this page shows the CF-19 being dropped from a metre high, being doused in water, having someone jump on it and having it doused in more water with the lid open. You can also see from the video that the CF-19 still worked after all that punishment and was happy to be doused in yet more water when powered on.'

A review of the Panasonic Toughbook CF-W5 notebook computer has been posted over at Laptop Magaszine. You won’t, however, need to pay much attention to the battery meter, since this system lasts a staggering eight hours on a charge. Throw in a durable design and an optional Verizon Wireless EV-DO card for anytime, anywhere connectivity and you have a pricey but highly recommended ultraportable.

Panasonic Toughbook CF-74 Review At Laptop Mag

Panasonic Toughbook CF-74.jpg

Laptop Mag reviews Panasonic's newest Toughbook laptop computer. 'Just as you wouldn’t wear cowboy boots to a black-tie ball, you would probably never carry a rugged notebook into a mahogany-paneled boardroom. The Panasonic Toughbook CF-74 is an exception. This semi-rugged sytem is made for highly mobile people who are tired of replacing less-durable notebooks but want something that still looks, acts, and runs like a mainstream machine.

CNET.com: Panasonic ToughBook 74 Review

Panasonic ToughBook 74.jpg

The Panasonic ToughBook 74 is one PC that is clearly targeted at users who prefer a device that can withstand some maltreatment. 'Are you the type of user that heaps abuse on your laptop, blowing through one machine after the other at too rapid a pace? With the ToughBook 74, Panasonic has incorporated some of the design principles used for its military-grade laptops into a more consumer-friendly "business rugged" model that's designed to withstand more everyday abuses. Larger and more rugged than the consumer-oriented ToughBook W4, the ToughBook 74 includes durability and mobility features such as magnesium-alloy casing, a shock-mounted hard drive, a spill-resistant keyboard, WWAN connectivity, and a screen that's readable outdoors.

Panasonic Letsnote CF-Y5 Notebook Computer

Panasonic Letsnote CF-Y5.bmp

Even though the Letsnote CF-Y5 notebook is only available in Japan at present, readers can get a look-in at the specs of yet another feature-packed "ToughBook" computer from Panasonic. 'The Letsnote CF-Y5 notebook (Japanese) offers a 1.5 GHz Intel L2300 Core Duo processor, a 14.1-inch 1,400 by 1,050 pixel display, up to 1 GB of RAM, 802.11a/b/g wireless networking, up to 60 GB hard disk storage, built-in Ethernet, a DVD burner, a PC slot, SD expansion, and VGA output. Impressive enough, but when you add in that the unit is designed to withstand an impact of up to 220 pounds plus a special waterproof sheet and drainage system which protect the hard disk, logic board, and other internal components from damage from small amounts of water or other liquids, it's a pretty intriguing design.'
