Toshiba's Portégé R705 13.3" Notebook Review - HotHardware

Toshiba-Portégé-R705-HotHardware.jpg

HotHardware have published a review of the Toshiba's Portégé R705 13.3" notebook. 'Toshiba's 13.3" Portégé R705 is one of the sleeker, more potent ultraportables on the market today, and in general, we have always admired the Portégé design scheme. The R705 keeps a good thing going, with its 3.2lb. chassis and its rigid, high quality construction ensuring a solid feel throughout. Toshiba has also gone their own way on a number of design cues, but they've ensured that the internal build sheet wasn't neglected while the designers were having their fun on the outside.'

Toshiba Satellite T235 Review - Notebook Review

Toshiba-Satellite-T235-NotebookReview.jpg

Notebook Review have published a review of the Toshiba Satellite T235 notebook. 'The Toshiba Satellite T230 and T235 series notebooks are an update to last year's T130 and T135 notebooks. These thin and light 13-inch notebooks are designed to offer consumers a stylish alternative to netbooks with better performance and a larger screen for a modest increase in price. Toshiba keeps the profile only a fraction of an inch thicker than the USB ports on the side of the notebook, though this is done in large part by cutting out things like an ExpressCard slot and optical drive. For the average user this notebook has all the advantages of a standard computer--a high resolution display, a full-size keyboard and a dual-core processor--but none of the bulk.'

Toshiba-Satellite-T235-S1350-PC-Mag.jpg

PC Magazine have published a review of the Toshiba Satellite T235-S1350 notebook. 'The T235-S1350 has a 13.3-inch widescreen, which is the median in CULV laptops. The biggest screen on a CULV laptop--14 inches wide--can be seen on the Asus UL80Vt-A1 and MSI X420, while the smallest (11 inches wide) can be found in the Acer 1830T and Dell M101z. They all share the same boilerplate 1,366 by 768 resolution, but are deemed more productive than 10-inch netbook screens. The full-size chiclet keyboard is borrowed from Toshiba's award-winning mini netbook line, as the keys are perfectly sized and raised so that the depth is similar to that of desktop keyboards. The laptop has a wider-than-average touchpad and mouse buttons that are easier to click than those of the Asus UL80Vt-A1 and Acer 1830T. The Dell M101z, however, has the softest mouse buttons in this group.'

Toshiba Libretto W105-L251 Review - CNET

Toshiba-Libretto-W105-L251-CNET.jpg

CNET have published their review of the Toshiba Libretto W105-L251dual-touch-screen notebook. 'Looking a little like an oversize Nintendo DS, the Libretto has two 7-inch multitouch displays (both at 1,024x600-pixel resolution), with the second taking the place of the traditional keyboard one would expect to find in this kind of clamshell design. By tapping a button on the side of the chassis, a virtual keyboard (similar to what you'd find on an iPhone or iPad) pops up to fill the bottom screen. Tap the same button twice and you get a virtual onscreen touch pad instead. Our first struggle came with figuring out how to juggle these two virtual input devices, as the bottom screen isn't large enough to display both the keyboard and the touch pad fully at once (and, in our tests, the onscreen keyboard and touch pad couldn't register inputs simultaneously). Eventually, we got into a nice rhythm of single- and double-tapping to switch from keyboard to touch pad on the fly, although it's more than a little counterintuitive.'

Toshiba Libretto W105 Review - Laptop Mag

Toshiba-Libretto-W105-Laptop-Mag.jpg

Laptop Magazine have published a review of the Toshiba Libretto W105 dual-screen tablet. 'The Libretto's W105 footprint is roughly the same as the iPad, but when its opened, its audacious design is revealed. Both halves are dominated by large 7-inch touchscreens. On the upper half, a power button sits to the right of the screen; the left has a webcam. The bottom half has only two buttons: the left one activates the on-screen keyboard, and the right is the Home button, which moves the taskbar to the upper display and opens Toshiba's Bulletin Board app in the bottom display. The weight of the lower half of the Libretto W105 kept the device from tipping backward, even with the upper display tilted far back. Turned sideways, we found the device most comfortable to hold in the middle with our right hand.'

Toshiba Satellite T235D-S1345 Review - CNET

Toshiba-Satellite-T235D-S1345-CNET.jpg

CNET have published a review of the Toshiba Satellite T235D-S1345 (black) notebook. 'The weight and battery life on this ultraportable 13-incher are superior to many standard 13-inch machines, but it comes at the same performance cost as the other Satellite T135 models had. The T235D still lacks an optical drive, and it's no longer quite the thinnest machine around; in fact, for only a few hundred more, the $829 Toshiba Portege R705-P25 offers a lighter chassis, a Core i3 processor, and a DVD-burning optical drive. However, if it's an all-around thin machine you're looking for at a price that's reasonable, the T235D-S1345 can handle a lot more than a Netbook can, and with a more ergonomic design.'

Toshiba Portege M780-S7230 Review - CNET

Toshiba-Portege-M780-S7230.jpg

CNET have published a review of the Toshiba Portege M780-S7230 convertible tablet notebook. 'The Portege M780 favors physical buttons and wheels over function-key combos--there's a volume wheel on the front edge, but it has no max/min cut-offs and will spin infinitely until the on-board volume maxes. A row of confusing and small identical buttons below the convertible swivel-screen control power, screen orientation, and even includes an odd mini joystick for repositioning and minimizing open windows. It would have made more sense to convert this stick into a trackpoint. To its credit, however, the old-fashioned and spill-resistant tapered keyboard on the M780 was one of the more comfortable typing experiences among recent laptops. Its key presses were slightly soft, but the key shape and positioning was generous and spacious.'

Toshiba Tecra M11-11M Review - IT Reviews

Toshiba-Tecra-M11-11M-IT-Reviews.jpg

IT Reviews have published a review of the Toshiba Tecra M11-11M notebook. 'While the processor isn't short on power, the same can't be said for the laptop's 3D credentials. With only the integrated graphics chipset to call on, the Tecra M11 certainly won't thank you for running 3D games; again, this highlights the fact that this laptop is aimed at the corporate sector. In PCMark05, the Tecra managed to pick up a very respectable overall score of 6,790 with 8,138 in the CPU section. Unsurprisingly, it didn't do so well in PCMark05's Graphics test, with a score of 2,904.'

Toshiba-Tecra-A11-ChannelWeb.jpg

ChannelWeb have published a review of the Toshiba Tecra A11 notebook PC. 'The Toshiba Tecra A11 came to the CRN Test Center lab with an Intel (NSDQ:INTC) Core i7-620M, dual-core processor at 2.66GHz, 4 GB of memory and a 320-GB HDD. It was preloaded with Windows XP Professional 32-bit. Using Primate Labs' Geekbench 2 benchmarking software, the Tecra A11 scored a rating of 4,706 -- making it the highest-performing dual-core CPU system we've ever evaluated in the CRN Test Center lab. Performance, frankly, just felt much faster than other notebook systems.'
