ASUS Lamborghini VX5 Review - PC Advisor

ASUS-Lamborghini-VX5-PC-Advisor.jpg

PC Advisor have published a review of the new ASUS Lamborghini VX5 notebook. 'The first thing that stands out about the ASUS Lamborghini VX5 is its glossy new paintjob. The previous version we looked at - the ASUS Lamborghini VX5 - sported an eye-searing canary yellow finish. While a luxury sports car can just about get away with this look, we're not sure the same can be said of a luxury notebook. Thankfully, for this latest model, ASUS has opted for a more subdued white finish (or 'pearlescent', it says here). It might not be as iconic to the Lamborghini brand, but it definitely makes for a better looking notebook.'

Asus-Eee-PC-1008-NotebookCheck.jpg

A review of the Asus Eee PC Seashell 1008P notebook has been posted over at Notebook Check. 'The new 1008P has one big display hinge in the center instead of two single hinges on the left and right. This solution is a bit more stable but not yet perfect because the central hinge has turned out comparatively small. Positioning the display isn't a problem. The netbook only weighs 1.14 kilograms (incl. 3 cell battery) at a size of 262 x 180 x 26.2 millimeters (w x d x h). The low weight has one disadvantage, though: the display lid can't be opened without holding the base unit'.'

Asus G51J Review - PC Perspective

Asus-G51J-PC-Perspective.jpg

PC Perspective have published a comprehensive review of the Asus G51J gaming notebook. 'Unlike majority of laptops (including gaming ones) that have a single hard point for an internal HDD, the Asus G51J supports up to two HDDs internally and more via eSata. The G51J comes with your choice of 500GB or 320GB in 5400 RPM and 7200 RPM flavors, or a 250GB available only in 5400 RPM. This gives you some freedom to add another HDD later, perhaps a fast SSD drive for loading the OS and games, and another to host your user data and other apps. Though the G51J can support two internal drives, there is no RAID option.'

Asus-Eee-PC-1005PE-NotebookCheck.jpg

Notebook Check have published a review of the new Asus Eee PC 1005PE notebook. 'Asus has kept the design of the 1005 range upright and hasn't dared to make any big changes. The predecessors, 1005HA-M and 1005HA-H, were only available in black and white. The new models, 1005P and 1005PE, are now also available in dark blue and pink. The three new case surfaces with many small rhombuses in white, black or blue is completely new. Thus, Asus now has seven different alternatives amongst which everyone should find the right one.

ASUS K42F Review - Laptop Mag

ASUS-K42F.jpg

Laptop Magazine have published a review of the powerful ASUS K42F notebook. 'The first thing you'll notice about the 13.6 X 9.8 X 1.4-inch K42F is its attractive lid; it features a black finish with a subtle wavy pinstripe pattern. Upon lifting the lid, you'll find that the finish extends to the base of the system (except for the strip directly north of the keyboard) for a unified look. As with other glossy notebooks, the K42F collects fingerprints and smudges, which detracts from this system's initial appeal. Some may also be turned off by the plastic casing in an age where metal finishes are becoming all the rage. At 5.0 pounds, this notebook is quite totable, but it's a bit heavier than some similarly sized notebooks. The Lenovo IdeaPad Y450, for example, weighs just 4.6 pounds, and the Dell Studio 14z weighs just 4.4 pounds, but that laptop lacks an optical drive.

ASUS N61VN Review - Notebook Review

ASUS-N61VN.jpg

A review of the ASUS N61VN multimedia notebook has been posted over at NotebookReview.com. 'The ASUS N61VN has a rather inconspicuous outside appearance that doesn't really hint at the multimedia and gaming beast housed within. I actually prefer this semi-professional look since it gives the impression you could be typing an essay or surfing the web instead of actually killing zombies or battling other online gamers. The contrasting textures inside and outside the N61VN are great in both form and function. The outside shell is finished with a glossy paint and a very subtle zen garden style design.'

ASUS-G60J.jpg

PC Advisor have published a review of the ASUS G60J gaming notebook. 'Its CPU is an Intel Core i7 Q820 Mobile Processor, which runs at 1.73GHz and has four cores. Those four cores use Hyper-Threading, so what you end up with is a CPU that processes up to eight threads simultaneously. The graphics card is an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260M with 1GB of DDR3 video RAM, and the system has 4GB of 1066MHz DDR3 RAM. The ASUS G60J runs Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit and it has two 500GB hard drives installed (they are partitioned into four 232GB drives).'

Asus UX30 Review - Pocket-lint

Asus-UX30.jpg

A review of the Asus UX30 Notebook has been posted over at Pocket-lint.com 'Like the Air, quality is also an area where this laptop shines, with a neatly integrated brushed aluminium lid, and tactile textured plastics. It's a stylish and cohesive design, with the ports hidden behind magnetised covers, and a glossy cover over the screen that stretches right to the edges of the chassis. The 13.3-inch screen uses LED backlighting to offer bright and vivid colours, also cutting down on power consumption. The 1366 x 768-pixel resolution results in detailed images, with enough space on screen for a couple of documents side-by-side. While the glossy coating looks great, and enhances the design, it's a case of form over function, proving highly reflective once out on the road - which is where this machine will surely be used most.'

Asus UL30A Review - PC Advisor

Asus-UL30A-Review.jpg

PC Advisor have published their review of the Asus UL30A ultraportable. 'The Asus UL30A has a reasonably crisp 13.3in backlit LED screen. That makes it a little easier on the eyes when trying to use the machine outdoors. You'll still deal with a bit of a glare coming off the glossy 1366-by-768-pixel screen, but it won't completely blind you. Nevertheless, when we dropped the brightness settings down on the display, rich colours seemed a little too washed out. Video fared a bit better, as black shadows were visible against a dark, if slightly ashy, background. That said, if you were relying on getting a bit of relief from work watching Hulu or just some video stashed on the hard drive, you'll be just fine.'

Asus-G51VX-RX05.jpg

HotHardware have published a review of the Asus G51VX-RX05 gaming Notebook. 'The right side of the notebook is home to a microphone input, audio input, SPDIF / headset output, two USB 2.0 ports, and a Supermulti DVD+/-RW / CD-RW drive with dual-layer support. Its worth noting that the drive hums and vibrates occasionally when reading disks. If desired, the mono microphone jack can be used to connect an external microphone. Doing so automatically disables the built in microphone. Along the left side, the G51Vx features a 15 pin D-sub VGA port, air vents, and USB 2.0, Firewire, eSATA, and HDMI ports. We also find an 8-in-1 media reader that supports the following types of flash media: SD, miniSD, MMC, Memory Stick (Pro, Duo, Pro Duo), and xD-picture card.
