ASUS K53E-B1 Review - Laptop Mag

By Admin on April 6, 2011 7:21 PM | No Comments

ASUS-K53E-B1-Laptop-Mag.jpg

Laptop Magazine have published a review of the ASUS K53E-B1 notebook. 'The ASUS K53E looks very good inside and out. The scover is finely textured plastic with a dark bronze finish and a chrome ASUS logo front and center. No matter if you're a student in class or a professional in a board meeting, the subtle pinstripe look will blend in pretty well with either surrounding. The finish holds up well to fingerprints, with the etched grooves breaking up any smudges before they become readily visible. On the inside of the K53 ASUS uses brushed metal for the palmrest and keyboard trim, keeping the same color scheme, albeit a lighter shade of bronze. The palmrest wasn't as smudge-resistant as the lid, collecting plenty of finger prints after a heavy day of typing. That said, it was easy to wipe clean with a cloth without much trouble.'

ASUS U31JG-A1 Review - Notebook Review

ASUS-U31JG-A1-Notebook-Review.jpg

A review of the ASUS U31JG-A1 notebook has been posted over at Notebook Review. 'The U31JG has a moderately attractive two-tone exterior. The silver trim wrapping around the chassis is a nice touch. ASUS made the unfortunate decision to use glossy plastic for the keyboard and screen surrounds; it looks good only in pictures. In real life, it smudges up too fast and is a chore to keep clean. The U31JG's chassis is made of plastic. Overall build quality is about average for a consumer notebook; the chassis exhibits moderate flex when twisted by the corners. The palm rest and keyboard surround area tend to cave inwards when pressed down upon, though not alarmingly so. The palm rest is not actually made of aluminum; alas it is only lookalike plastic.'

ASUS U41JF-A1 Review - Notebook Review

ASUS-U41JF-A1-Notebook-Review.jpg

A review of the ASUS U41JF-A1 notebook has been posted over at Notebook Review. 'The ASUS U41JF's silver and black chassis is unlikely to turn heads though it still looks good in its own right. The silver brushed aluminum lid is especially attractive and feels cool to the touch. As mentioned earlier, the chassis is just 1.1" thin; the lid is one of the thinnest I have seen on a notebook in any size range. The U41JF feels a bit heavier than expected due to its large 8-cell battery; it came in at 4.8 lbs. on my digital scale. Something I like about the U41JF's appearance is the relative lack of LED status lights; there is just the power button on the top right and four small lights below the touchpad buttons.'

ASUS G53Jw-3DE Review - Laptop Mag

By Admin on January 11, 2011 5:08 PM | No Comments

ASUS-G53Jw-3DE-Laptop-Mag.jpg

Laptop Magazine have published a review of the ASUS G53Jw-3DE gaming notebook. 'The G53Jw-3DE is the smaller cousin to the G73; as such, it has the same stealth fighter-inspired design, only in a (relatively) less bulky package. At 15.6 x 11.9 x 0.8-2.1 inches, the G53Jw is about an inch smaller than the G73, though both are roughly the same thickness--2.1 inches. At 7.9 pounds, it's also about a pound lighter than the G73, but a pound and a half heavier than the Acer Aspire 5745DG. The G53Jw is even about half a pound heavier than the HP Envy 17. Modeled after the F-117 Nighthawk stealth fighter, the G53Jw lacks the bling of colorful notebooks like the Alienware M17x, but its sleek, angular design and gunmetal gray exterior make it one of the most attractive systems we've seen.'

ASUS N53JF Review - Notebook Review

ASUS-N53JF-Notebook-Review.jpg

A review of the ASUS N53JF notebook has been posted over at Notebook Review. 'The build quality of the N53JF is nothing short of excellent. From the simple yet stylish aluminum screen lid to the surprisingly ridgid chassis, this is one of the most solid notebooks in the 15-inch multimedia laptop category. Many cheaper notebooks in this class suffer from questionable structural support (you can literally "bend" those low-cost notebook by twisting them between your hands) but ASUS clearly engineered the the N53JF to handle daily use and abuse. The lid resists flexing as well thanks to its aluminum backing; no ripples appear on the screen when pushed in from behind either. Fit and finish is also quite good; there are minimal gaps between parts and no unfinished edges.'

Review: ASUS U33JC Core i3 13-in Bamboo Notebook - PC Perspective

By Admin on November 16, 2010 3:27 AM | No Comments

ASUS-U33JC-Core-i3-13-in-Bamboo-Notebook.jpg

PC Perspective have published their review of the ASUS U33JC Core i3 13-in Bamboo notebook. 'Touching the U33JC is generally a pleasure. The keyboard on the U33JC is identical to the one found on the U30JC with the exception of key color. This isn't a bad thing, however, because the keyboard is one of the better ultraportable keyboards on the market. The keys are well spaced, but also large enough for my sausage fingers to happily navigate. Flex is basically non-existent and the keys feel solid and firmly attached. The non-gloss aluminum that encases the keyboard further improves the general feel of luxury and solidarity.'

ASUS G73Jw Review - PC World

By Admin on November 11, 2010 5:08 PM | No Comments

ASUS-G73Jw-PC-World.jpg

A review of the ASUS G73Jw gaming notebook has been posted over at PC World. 'The G73Jw has much the same array of ports as other notebooks in its league. Its shining feature is a USB 3.0 port, but it also has three USB 2.0 ports, an HDMI output, a VGA output, an ethernet port, microphone and headphone jacks, and an eight-in-one card reader. It lacks an ExpressCard slot and eSATA ports, but most people aren't looking for these in a laptop today. The G73Jw also carries a Blu-ray combo drive, which is perfect for your HD movie needs. The G73Jw's keyboard is one of the worst I've seen--a huge disappointment in a gaming-oriented desktop replacement. Most 17-inch notebooks have great (or at least well-laid-out) keyboards, but the G73Jw's keyboard is cramped, slippery, and generally frustrating to type on.'

Asus Eee PC 1215N Review - CNET

By Admin on September 1, 2010 4:07 AM | No Comments

Asus-Eee-PC-1215N-CNET.jpg

CNET have published a review of the Asus Eee PC 1215N (black) ultraportable. 'For $499, the Eee PC 1215N includes most of what we'd want from a current ultraportable, including a high-res 12-inch display, Nvidia Ion graphics (with Nvidia's Optimus graphics switching), and, most importantly, a dual-core CPU. In practice, this is a big step up from typical $300-$400 Netbooks, but at the same time, similar systems with AMD's Neo CPU more closely approximate the feel of a full-power mainstream laptop. The Eee PC 1215N does do very well at basic gaming and HD video playback. Combined with the larger 12-inch screen, that makes for a potentially very useful travel system with serious multimedia chops.'

Asus U33Jc-A1 Review - CNET

By Admin on August 1, 2010 10:04 PM | No Comments

Asus-U33Jc-A1-CNET.jpg

CNET have published a review of the Asus U33Jc-A1 (bamboo) notebook. 'No matter how inspired a laptop design, chances are it is made of either glossy or textured plastic, or, in some upscale cases, aluminum or magnesium. There's nothing wrong with that, but there's certainly room for some creativity around the margins, and that's exactly what Asus brings to the table in the new U33Jc-A1. This $999 13-inch laptop is partially clad in actual bamboo, creating a unique upscale look and feel that we find greatly appealing to our mid-century modern design tastes. Beyond the look and feel, this Intel Core i3 system also works in some useful features, including Intel's Wireless Display technology (for beaming the video output to an external display), and a discrete Nvidia 310M GPU.'

ASUS U30Jc Review - TweakTown

By Admin on July 6, 2010 2:50 PM | No Comments

ASUS-U30Jc-TweakTown.jpg

TweakTown have published a review of the ASUS U30Jc 13.3-inch notebook. 'This machine has a very glossy screen that has lots of glare in bright rooms. However, the screen is very good for watching video and movies when the workday is done. The fact that the ASUS U30Jc uses an NVIDIA GeForce 301M GPU means that this is one of the best notebooks for streaming video from Hulu and other sources that I have tried. The ASUS U30Jc can play streaming video in full screen mode with only an occasional hiccup. The video for the most part is smooth and you quickly forget you are watching on a notebook. Things are equally as smooth when watching DVDs using the optical drive.'
