MSI Wind U160 Review - Pocket-lint

MSI-Wind-U160-Pocket-lint.jpg

A review of the MSI Wind U160 netbook has been posted over at Pocket-lint. 'The MSI Wind U160 is finished in glossy plastics, so if fingerprints concern you then you'll be forever polishing this little number. However, the backlit MSI logo on the lid and the deep black colouration has a metallic sheen to it, so it looks good too. The 6-cell battery takes on a double bulge, one fitting into that gap between the hinges at the rear, as mentioned above, the second bulge dropping down below so the rear of the netbook is raised 15mm or so, so the keyboard falls under your fingers at an angle.'

MSI-Wind-U160-Trusted-Reviews.jpg

Trusted Reviews have published their review of the MSI Wind U160 netbook. 'Design is where the Wind U160 takes a bold step away from its predecessor. It now looks like the bastard offspring of an Asus Eee PC 1005PE and a Sony VAIO Z Series, which is no bad thing. The prominent, rounded silver hinge with its chromed edges and blue-backlit power button is this netbook's design focal point, with the rest of it adorned in glossy black or "fancy gold", according to your taste. However, while attractive and solid, the new design is not all good news. Unfortunately, the aforementioned fingerprint-loving gloss extends not only to the screen but also the palm rests, making this a higher-maintenance machine than its matt predecessors.

MSI Wind U160-007US Review - CNET

MSI-Wind-U160-007US-CNET.jpg

CNET have published a review of the MSI Wind U160-007US netbook. 'The current version of the MSI Wind, called the U160, happens to stand out from the crowd in a couple of ways. It boasts some of the longest battery life we've seen, at 7-plus hours, and it ran some of our benchmark tests just a few seconds faster than other Netbooks. It's not enough of a performance difference to notice in real-world use, but if you're looking for the maximum possible battery life, the Wind is certainly up there. This extralong life, however, comes at a price. First, the system's massive battery sticks out significantly from the bottom of the chassis, like some kind of awkward kickstand, and second, the Wind U160 costs $380 (although the official list price is even worse: $429), which is $80 more than largely comparable machines from other PC makers.'

MSI Wind U160 Review - Notebook Review

MSI-Wind-U160-Notebook-Review.jpg

A review of the MSI Wind U160 netbook has been posted over at Notebook Review. 'The MSI Wind U160 has a very good looking appearance with a glossy piano black finish inside and out. Compared to the U135, MSI went with a cylindrical hinge design on the U160, which allows the extended battery to blend with the shape of the back of the netbook. Gateway and Sony have also used a similar design on some of their notebooks. The common trend with these configurations is including the power button at the end of the hinge, which MSI also does.'

MSI Wind U200 Review - Computeractive

MSI-Wind-U200-Computeractive.jpg

A review of the MSI Wind U200 netbook has been posted over at Computeractive. 'It was the first computer to combine a 10in screen, 160GB hard disk, 1GB of memory and a low-power Intel Atom processor - almost every netbook sold today has an identical specification. However, the MSI Wind U200 has little in common with its predecessor. Netbooks are popular because they are cheap and portable, but while they are good for word processing and web surfing, after regular use their shortcomings become apparent. The small screen size and keyboard can be uncomfortable and they perform poorly when used for much more than the simplest of tasks. Until recently, the only alternative was a full-sized laptop, more expensive and not as portable.'

MSI Wind U160 Review - Laptop Mag

MSI-Wind-U160-Laptop-Mag.jpg

Laptop Magazine have published a review of the MSI Wind U160 netbook. 'At 2.6 pounds, the U160 is lighter than other 10-inch netbooks, such as the 2.8-pound Samsung N210 and the 3-pound Dell Inspiron Mini 10. And yet, it feels bulkier, thanks to its protruding butt of a battery. The Toshiba NB305 and other systems more discreetly integrate their 6-cell batteries, so we're surprised that MSI didn't make a similar effort. Otherwise, the U160's design is simple: a glossy black lid with matching interior, both of which pick up fingerprints easily. We like the glowing MSI logo on the lid and the bumpy trackpad (which looks similar to those used on recent ASUS Eee PCs), but some may be turned off by the large metallic hinge, which gives the screen a higher-than-usual profile.'

MSI Wind U135 Review - Notebook Review

MSI-Wind-U135-NotebookReview.jpg

A review of the MSI Wind U135 netbook has been posted over at NotebookReview.com. 'The Wind U135 is the one of the newest netbooks from MSI in the 10-inch form-factor. Packed with the Intel Pine Trail platform this netbook promises increased battery life and performance compared to models still using the previous Intel Atom chipset. Our longest lasting notebook to date is the ASUS Eee PC 1005PE, clocking in at over 12 hours with average use. In this review we put the MSI Wind U135 through its paces and see how well it stacks up against the ASUS Eee PC 1005PE which offers a nearly identical hardware configuration.'

MSI Wind U135 Review - Laptop Mag

By Admin on December 24, 2009 9:27 PM | No Comments

MSI-Wind-U135-LaptopMag.jpg

Laptop Magazine have published a review of the MSI Wind U135 netbook. 'With a footprint of 10.2 x 7.0 x 1.5 inches, the U135 takes up about as much desk space as other netbooks of its ilk. However, its battery sticks out the bottom of the system, increasing its thickness in the back to 1.5 inches. While not nearly as egregious as the Wind U110, this protrusion is more noticeable than those on many other netbooks with 6-cell batteries. Weighing 2.8 pounds, the U135 disappeared like every other netbook once inside our messenger bag.'.
