Sony-VAIO-VPCF12AFM-H-CNET.jpg

A review of the Sony VAIO VPCF12AFM/H desktop replacement laptop has been posted over at CNET. 'The Vaio's full-size keyboard features flat-topped, widely spaced keys that are similar to what you'd find on MacBooks. It's a nearly universal key style now, but it is one that Sony deserves credit for pioneering years ago. As this is a desktop replacement laptop, there's plenty of room for a full number pad to the right of the keyboard, as well as separate Page Up and Page Down keys. A row of quick-launch and media control buttons sit above the keyboard, which launch Sony's proprietary media software and a built-in Vaio Care tech support app that offers one-stop shopping for troubleshooting and diagnostic tools.. One misstep is that Sony incudes dedicated play, fast-forward, and rewind buttons, but to control the volume, you have to press the Fn key plus F2, F3, and F4.'

A review of the Sony Vaio F111FX laptop has been posted over at MobileTechReview. 'The Sony Vaio F has an excellent chiclet style keyboard and a dedicated 10-digit keypad. Since the Vaio F targets movie watching users, the keyboard has bright white backlight that makes the keyboard easily seen in the dark or dimly lit areas. The keyboard offers a great typing experience and the palm rest feels smooth and comfy. Like many new Vaio models, the palm rest is raised higher than the keyboard plane, making typing easier. The trackpad is off the center to the left and the two mouse keys below the trackpad are a bit flat.'

Sony-VAIO-Y-Trusted-Reviews.jpg

Trusted Reviews have published a review of the Sony VAIO Y Series (VPC-Y11M1E/S) - 13.3in laptop. 'Our review model, the Y11M1E/S, is the only model currently on sale and it'll set you back in the region of £650. Considering Sony is rarely averse to demanding a premium for its laptops, its specification is nothing to sniff at. At its heart is a low-voltage Intel Pentium SU4100, which has two cores running at 1.3GHz. It's backed by 4GB of DDR3 RAM and a 320GB hard drive, with Wireless-N Wi-Fi and Bluetooth also included. That's a decent base-line, especially for a system claiming nine hours of battery life, but the need to keep the weight and price down means there's no integrated optical drive.'

A review of the Sony VAIO VPCY115FX/BI laptop has been posted over at Geek.com. 'The Y series , specifically the VPCY115FX/BI that we tested, runs Intel's Core 2 Duo SU7300 processor, has 4GB of RAM, and 320GB (5400RPM) of storage. It runs Intel's integrated graphics and the GS45 Express chipset. The 13.3-inch display runs at 1366×768 and is LED backlit in order to maximize battery life. The OS is Window 7 Home Premium. On the exterior the Y series has a Memory Stick reader, a multicard reader, a wireless on/off switch, an ExpressCard/23 slot, three USB slots, ethernet, a Kensington lock port, VGA, HDMI, Firewire, and mic/headphone jacks. At 12.80″(W) x 0.93-1.26″(H) x 8.92″(D) and 3.9 pounds the system may not be very large, but it isn't lacking anything (aside from the optical drive) that a typical user would be looking for.'

Sony-VAIO-CW-Series.jpg

Trusted Reviews have published a review of the Sony VAIO CW Series (VPC-CW1S1E/P) 14.1in laptop. 'As for our model, it's powered by an Intel Core 2 Duo P7450 running at 2.13GHz that's supported by a plentiful 4GB DDR3 RAM. Sony has also had the foresight to install a 64-bit version of Windows 7, so all that system memory is being put to good use. A 512MB nVidia GT 230M graphics cards serves up the graphical treats, while for storage you get a 320GB hard drive. Gigabit Ethernet, Wireless-N Wi-Fi and Bluetooth are all present too, completing a thorough specification. Connectivity isn't too bad, either. While the CW does lack eSATA or USB 'sleep and charge' capabilities, it does have mini-FireWire - an increasingly rare connection on laptops of late.'

A review of the Sony Vaio VGN-Z46GD (Core 2 Duo P9700 Processor 2.8GHz, 6GB RAM) laptop has been posted over at CNET Asia. 'The Vaio Z series comes in several fixed configurations. The high-end VGN-Z48GD and VGN-Z47GD sport with solid-state storage and a Blu-ray writer, respectively. The low-end VGN-Z45GD slips in at under S$3,000 (US$2,007.63), but sports a slower processor and less RAM. We reviewed the midrange VGN-Z46GD model that is available in two variants. The VGN-Z46GD/B comes with a standard black metal chassis, while our test unit, the VGN-46GD/U, sports the new shadow border design (which will be detailed later in the review) and a S$100 (US$66.92) premium.'
