Acer-Aspire-5745G-PC-Advisor.jpg

PC Advisor have published a review of the Acer Aspire 5745G laptop. 'The Acer Aspire 5745G is a 15-inch mainstream home laptop - and it has the specs to show for it. An Intel Core i5-430M 2.26GHz processor, 4GB RAM, 500GB hard drive and nVidia GeForce GT 330M graphics are very good building blocks for the Acer Aspire 5745G laptop. It has a weaker processor compared to the Dell Studio 15 but better graphics. The Acer Aspire 5745G laptop also has an 8x tray-loading DVD writer. For connectivity options, the laptop has four USB ports, VGA, Gigabit Ethernet, card reader slot, HDMI, headphone and microphone jack. Wireless connectivity options like Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth 2.1 are also supported by the Acer Aspire 5745G. The laptop also comes with 64-bit Windows 7 Home Premium operating system.'

Laptop Magazine have published a review of the Acer Aspire 8943G multimedia notebook. 'All of the notebook's ports are on the sides and front; VGA, HDMI, eSATA/USB, USB, FireWire 400, audio-in, mic, and headphone are on the left. Ethernet and the three remaining USB ports bookend the optical drive on the right. Quick launch buttons for Wi-Fi/Bluetooth activation and Acer's included backup software sit on the left edge in the front, a volume wheel is tucked under the touchpad area, and a memory card reader sits in between that and an IR receiver port. The 8943G's metal, chiclet-style keyboard was comfortable to type on, and there's plenty of room for a full-size number pad. We also appreciated that the Caps and Number Lock keys house a small, blue LED to indicate when they're active.'

Acer-Aspire-Ethos-8943G-Reg-Hardware.jpg

Reg Hardware have published a review of the Acer Aspire Ethos 8943G 18.4in laptop. Stylish and powerful, the new 18.4in Aspire Ethos 8943G will appeal to those looking for a desktop replacement that doesn't hold back on performance. Each of the four cores on the Core i7-720QM purr along at 1.6GHz, while ATI's Mobility Radeon HD 5650 is on hand should you want to indulge in a bit of gaming. Throw in a Blu-ray drive, and the cost of the components starts to rise, pushing the laptop's price well over the £1,000 mark.'

Acer-Aspire-Timeline-X-IT-Reviews.jpg

IT Reviews have published a review of the Acer Aspire Timeline X laptop. 'Starting with thinness and lightness, the 4820TG measures 342 x 245 x 25.4mm, which fits into the sub-one-inch category, and it weighs in at 2.2kg which is about average for a 14-inch display. It certainly looks chic enough with its satin finished black aluminium cover, and it feels sturdy and secure, with a screen that opens as wide as 165 degrees. The CineCrystal display itself has a standard widescreen 16:9 ratio and has a native resolution of 1366 x 768 HD (which is increasingly popular in this class).'

Acer-Aspire-5553G-Trusted-Reviews.jpg

A review of the Acer Aspire 5553G quad-core laptop has been posted over at Trusted Reviews. 'To be precise, the 5553G uses an AMD Phenom II X4 N930 that runs at 2.0GHz. On paper that's not especially fast, but it's backed up by a plentiful 4GB RAM and an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470 graphics card that should ensure some gaming ability. This system also features graphics switching, whereby hitting the 'P' button to the top-right of the keyboard activates the integrated graphics. This will help increase battery life, but it's a poorly advertised and implemented system that will doubtless confuse novice users.'

Acer-Aspire-TimelineX-4820T-PC-Advisor.jpg

PC Advisor have published a review of the Acer Aspire TimelineX 4820T laptop. 'The Acer Aspire TimelineX 4820T is also one of the slimmest and lightest 14-inch laptops around, measuring about an inch thick with its screen lid shut and weighing just over 2-kg (with a six-cell battery pack and a DVD writer) - which is mighty impressive. Despite its slim form factor and being predominantly made out of plastic, the Acer Aspire TimelineX 4820T is still pretty well built - the screen is strongly attached to the rest of the chassis with two hinges at the spine. Overall, we like the Aspire TimelineX 4820T's thin and light design.'

Acer-Aspire-5942G-PC-Advisor.jpg

A review of the Acer Aspire 5942G laptop has been posted over at PC Advisor. 'The Acer Aspire 5942G actually has two aces up its sleeve. Besides a most capable ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650 graphics processor (backed up with no less than 1GB of memory), it also takes a particularly fast Intel mobile CPU. Various processor options are available for the Acer Aspire 5942G, but we looked at one with a new Intel Core i5 chip. It's clocked at 2.4GHz, but with the ability to rev up to 2.933GHz when required; and Hyper Threading technology means that its two cores can also behave as four virtual cores.'

Acer-Aspire-5942G-524G64Bn-Trusted-Reviews.jpg

Trusted Reviews have published a review of the Acer Aspire 5942G-524G64Bn 15.6in laptop. 'Looking around the system reveals all the connectivity you could ever want from a multimedia laptop. Naturally an HDMI port is present, as is VGA, and they are joined by a trio of audio jacks: one headphone jack; one microphone jack, and one line-out/SPDIF output. There's also an infrared (CIR) receiver on the front edge, though its positioning is far from optimal for easy line of sight and Acer doesn't provide a remote itself. Other sundries include a 54mm ExpressCard slot, a mini-FireWire port, memory card reader and the ever present Ethernet port. You get four USB ports in total: three standalone ports and one that doubles as an eSATA connection for faster data transfer from compatible external hard drives/memory keys.'

Acer-Aspire-8935G-Pocket-lint.jpg

Pocket-lint have published a review of the Acer Aspire 8935G Notebook. 'The quality of the Aspire 8935G is excellent, with strong plastics used throughout, and despite its size the big screen is held firmly in place as you type. It's a bulky machine though, and with a weight of 4.5kg we wouldn't want to take it a lot further than the next room. This machine's media credentials continue through to the components used, and ATi Mobility Radeon HD 4670 graphics card offers enough shove to play the latest games with ease. That said, you may have to turn the HD resolution down slightly in some of the more demanding titles. Office performance is equally capable, with a mid-range Intel Core 2 Duo P7450 processor and 4096MB of speedy DDR3 RAM making light work of everything we threw at it.'

Acer-Aspire-8940G.jpg

A review of the Acer Aspire 8940G desktop replacement system has been posted over at NotebookReview.com. 'The Acer Aspire 8940G shows quite a bit of resemblance to the Acer Aspire One ... keeping the same hinge shape and position as well as the protruding rear-edge of the main body that you can see when the lid is closed. The side profile of the 8940G doesn't look much thicker than a smaller 15" or 17" notebook. The sloped front and rear edge do a great job of masking thickness even further while also making it more comfortable to carry. Inside you have a completely flat surface containing the keyboard, touchpad, speakers, and multimedia keys. The keyboard is even recessed just enough so the flat keys lay flush with the outer bezel.'
