Sony VAIO VPC-L212FX/B Review - PC Mag

PC Magazine have published a review of the Sony VAIO VPC-L212FX/B all-in-one PC. 'The VPC-L212FX/B looks more like an HDTV than the last Sony VAIO all-in-one we looked at, the Sony VAIO VPC-J113FX/B ($999.98 list, 2.5 stars). The desktop is all monitor, with a slightly large bezel around the screen (more on that later). The chassis fits the current consumer electronics standards: glossy black plastic and glass, with silver accents on the system's "foot." The included wireless keyboard and mouse easily slip underneath the screen for storage. The back and sides of the system have embedded controls and ports, but are almost invisible unless you really look for them. This design strategy is both a help and a hindrance: they are certainly discreet, but they almost seem hidden when you're trying to find them in a darkened room.'

PC Magazine have published a review of the Sony Vaio VPC-J116FX/B all-in-one PC. 'The Sony Vaio VPC-J116FX/B ($1,099.99 list) is an attractive, mid-priced all-in-one desktop PC with a 21.5-inch multitouch screen. It's Sony's entry into the growing all-in-one desktop category. The system's pricing and features pits it against the entry-level, $1,199 iMac. The VPC-J116FX/B (part of Sony's Vaio J Touch line) has a lot going for it--including great design, two-year Costco warranty, and Blu-ray--but some stumbling points in features keep it from contention. Take a look at it if you're in the market for a reasonably priced, space saving PC, but there are other, better choices out there for a bit more money.'

Sony VAIO VPC-L117FX/B Review - PC Mag

PC Magazine have published a review of the Sony VAIO VPC-L117FX/B all-in-one desktop PC. 'The system's touchscreen is responsive, though it takes a few seconds for your finger to learn exactly where to point to get the screen to recognize your commands. The HP TouchSmart systems are a little more forgiving with finger placement, but both the Sony and HP all in one PC's screens are multi-touch enabled and can use standard Windows 7 touch command functions like swipe, flick, pinch, and rotate. The system's quad-core processor makes the Sony VPC-L117FX/B just a little more responsive than the TouchSmart 600, but you're unlikely to notice the difference unless you have the two side by side.'

Sony Vaio L117FX Review - CNET

Sony-Vaio-L117FX.jpg

CNET have published a review of the Sony Vaio L117FX (Core 2 Quad Q8400s 2.66GHz, 6GB RAM, 1TB HDD, Windows 7 Home Premium) All-in-One desktop PC. 'Being a Windows 7-based all-in-one, the Vaio L117FX also comes with multitouch support. For traditional desktop use, the appeal of touch is minimal, but we can see an argument for touch if you mounted the Vaio on a wall or set it up in a kitchen. Sony joins Acer/Gateway and HP in introducing a multitouch-capable all-in-one this fall, and of the three companies, Sony has put the least effort into bundling any touch-specific software. You get the basic Microsoft Surface applications (some games, a 3D globe, and a few others), but Sony has no proprietary touch software to show off this new feature. With so many underwhelming touch-specific programs so far, we can't say we were looking forward to another half-baked note-taking program or redundant media browser. Thus, we don't really blame Sony for simply including touch support as a situational convenience in the Vaio. If third-party touch software takes off, perhaps touch will become more useful.'
