Sony Vaio Z Review - CNET

Sony-Vaio Z-CNET.jpg

CNET have published a review of the feature-rich Sony Vaio Z laptop. 'The slim, black carbon fiber body of the Sony Vaio Z actually looks quite different from the last Vaio Z we reviewed. That model was thicker, with black keys against a silver finish, and a two-tone base. Its main claim to fame was the inclusion of a whopping 256GB SSD storage system, which drove the price up to $2,300. In comparison, the new Vaio Z looks and feels like an entirely different machine. In fact, it reminds us of an older Vaio, the TZ150, which was one of the last pre-Netbook $2,000-plus ultraportables back in 2007. The matte black finish and slatelike chassis look great (and ditch the common Sony rounded-screen hinge), but at the same time, all the various joints and seams reminds us of how much we like the minimalism of Apple's unibody construction.'

Apple iMac 27in Review - Computeractive

Apple-iMac-27in-Computeractive.jpg

Computeractive have published a review of the Apple iMac 27in (3.4 GHz Intel Core i7) desktop all-in-one computer. 'The iMac has 4GB of memory, a 1TB (1,000GB) hard disk and an AMD Radeon HD 6970M graphics card with 1GB of its own memory. Lab test results were excellent: a demanding recent game with all the detail settings turned up and in the screen's full resolution played at frame rates exceeding those of the fastest Windows PCs we have reviewed. Another new addition is Thunderbolt, a new high-speed data transfer socket developed by Intel. Billed as a potential replacement for USB, it's capable of very fast transfer speeds but the technology is so new that at the moment, essentially no devices use it, and Apple doesn't even supply a Thunderbolt cable with the iMac.'

Apple iMac 27in Review - PC Advisor

Apple-iMac-27in-PC-Advisor.jpg

PC Advisor have published a review of the Apple iMac 27in (Mid-2011) desktop. 'Straight from the packing box, the iMac is ready to go, wireless keyboard and mice ready-paired for Bluetooth - there's even a power cable in place, so you just need to find one mains socket. Upon startup, there's a quick initial registration process (which can be skipped), then you're at the Mac OS X desktop and ready for action. The iMac won't nag you to use short-lived trials of anti-virus software, nor bug you to make a backup disc of your C drive; you get two DVDs in the box for OS and iLife, in case you ever need to reinstall.'

2010 Apple iMac 21.5in Review - Reg Hardware

2010-Apple-iMac-Reg-Hardware.jpg

A review of the 2010 Apple iMac 21.5in All-In-One desktop has been posted over at Reg Hardware. 'The new iMac models haven't been significantly redesigned this time around - the edge-to-edge glass panelling that was introduced in late 2009 remains the same, as do the glossy 21.5in and 27in backlit LED screens. However, the new range does finally phase out Intel's Core 2 Duo processors altogether, adopting the newer i3 processor in the entry-level models while reserving the i5 and i7 chips for the higher end of the range. Prices start at a fairly hefty £999 - edging up from the previous £969 - for a model equipped with an 3.06GHz Intel Core i3-540 processor.'
