Portland, OR - CTL™ has announced the MB40U as their first Ubuntu compatible notebook. The 14.1" MB40U offers impressive features including up to 8GB memory and up to6 hours of battery life.. With an Intel™ second generation Core i processor, DDR3 memory, Bluetooth and multi-media buttons, the MB40U is designed to give the user a notebook that is as powerful as it is functional while offering the flexibility and freedom inherent with Ubuntu 11.10.

Ubuntu from Canonical is a free and open-source Linux-based operating system. Ubuntu 11.10 includes an extensive collection of applications available for free download and purchase in the Ubuntu Software Center. Ubuntu also features the integrated Ubuntu One service which enables users to stream music from their personal Ubuntu One cloud to Android and iPhones, as well as easily share files with Windows computers.

Because Linux-based platforms such as Ubuntu have so far resisted the proliferation of viruses and spyware, they don't need to run additional anti-virus, spyware and security software in the background. This results in a dramatic increase in speed and capacity, as well as the elimination of the need for additional investment in anti-virus and spyware software.

"CTL is very pleased to introduce our line of notebooks and desktops based on Ubuntu version 11.10. Ubuntu has emerged as one of the most popular and user-friendly Linux operating systems in the market. With Ubuntu, users can have full desktop experience supported by a robust ecosystem and a full suite of free applications. CTL will be offering more Ubuntu based products in the future," says CTL's COO Erik Stromquist.
