ASUS Eee Box PC - PC Mag
A review of the ASUS Eee Box PC has been posted over at PC Mag. 'The Eee Box is a 7-by-1.2-by-8.8-inch (HWD) slab, though the height really tops out at 8.8 inches with the not-really-optional stand. The stand is easy to connect and holds the Eee Box at an angle to the desk. You'll definitely want to use it, since the system has cooling vents on the bottom of the chassis. Though it has internal cooling fans, I couldn't hear the Eee Box during normal operations. The Eee Box comes with a mounting bracket that can bolt on to the VESA mounting points on many LCD monitors; mounted in this way, it will look like an all-in-one desktop (for a fraction of the price).
The system's Intel Atom N270 processor is one of the new x86/x86-64 processors aimed at net-top and netbook small PCs. It's a Hyper-Threaded processor, so it's more efficient when processing multithreaded apps (like CineBench and Photoshop) than a single-threaded processor would be. It's still a single-core processor, though—the Eee Box isn't a video-editing station or anything like that. Instead, it's an Internet terminal for the home that can do some light Windows application tasks.'
