Gateway MX6214 Review
If you can only afford to pay a few hundred dollars for a laptop check out the review of the Gateway MX6214 over at PC Magazine. ‘Cheap notebooks have a history of being unattractive and heavy. At 6.1 pounds and clad with a generic silver exterior, the MX6214 is no exception. But a look inside will show you some surprising but welcome features. At 80GB, the hard drive is pleasantly large for the machine's price. And given that there's usually some sort of wireless card built in to a notebook, regardless of price point, I wasn't surprised to find an integrated Broadcom 802.11a/g card with the MX6214. You also get a bright 15.4-inch widescreen that works well with DVD movies and digital photography, as well as a dual-format DVD drive. The full-size keyboard responded well to each keystroke, and the touchpad has scroll functions, but I could do without the noisy mouse buttons.’
